Clerics are restricted to blunt weapons (no slash or piercing for example) and as such there is a limited number of available weapons out there for clerics to choose.

In terms of various styles, there are:

  • 2handers
  • 1 hand blunts with no special effect
  • 1 hand blunts with a focus effect
  • 1 hand blunts with a spam effect (i.e. Hand of the Gods proc)
  • 1 hand blunts with a boom effect (i.e. Time Lapse 750 proc)

[edit] WHEN TO USE SPAM VS. BOOM HAMMERS IN COMBAT

Lluianae parsed extensively with both in 2006 and here is the summary:

  • Stats - use the one with better stats for the times when you're not meleeing
  • Short term fights in general (1 minute or less of constant meleeing) 
= Spam > Boom for proc dps unless you get RNG in your favor with the

wand (aka a string of procs that isn't the norm)

  • Short term fights with little casting (slight hinderance from max

potential in proc dps from spam hammer) 

= Spam > Boom again.
  • Short term fights with alot of casting (you wouldn't really

find time to melee when this is the case but if you do then there is significant hinderance in proc dmg from max potential due to swing loss) 

= Spam > Boom in this case. (that's the trend for

short term fights, highest proc mod weapon wins short term!).

  • Long term fights in general (several minutes+ of constant meleeing) 
= Boom > Spam, especially with crit aa's in this case.
  • Long term fights with little casting (no noticeable proc loss due to

lost swings, expected proc dps is going to be near or at max potential) 

= Boom > Spam in this case.
  • Long term fights with alot of casting (again its a case of a

dramatic amount of swings lost due to healing alot, you won't really be able to melee in this kind of scenario) 

= Spam > Boom in this case.



= Boom >>>>>>>>>>>> Spam always as long as you're meleeing alot.

Always go with the boomstick in Divine/Greater Avatar as the increased procrate is a large boost to base rate stuff, but a really small net gain for spam hammers.


[edit] WHAT AUGS TO PUT ON SPAM/BOOM WEAPONS

Best aug for Spam Hammers - any stat aug, good hp mana + mods is good (NOT Combat Effects aug)

Best aug for Boom Sticks - either Combat Effect or Attack aug if possible
